Wines and Steins

Fostering home wine and beer making and the art of tastings

Wine Tasting Los Alamos

  • 07/10/2016
  • 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Los Alamos, CA
Join us Sunday, July 10, 2016, to learn more about the art and science of making wine from neighboring vintners in Santa Barbara County.

You can plan a day trip or an overnight adventure to historic and newly-discovered Los Alamos, just an hour's drive south on Highway 101.

Los Alamos "has quietly evolved into California's next great food and wine destination", claims Conde Nast Traveler.

While this is a DIY adventure, Wines and Steins has arranged two gatherings.

  • Casa Dumetz's proprietor and wine maker will greet us at 2 PM on Sunday for a "horizontal tasting" of her Grenache "experiment".  Just next door is Babi's Beer Emporium for our "steins" fans.
  • Happy hour(s) around the Alamo Motel firepit

Our November 6
th
meeting will feature a presentation by Paul Quinn from Opolo
Vineyards. Among other Winery responsibilities, Paul is responsible for Opolo’s
relatively new distillation process and the products it produces. This will be an
opportunity to learn about the intricacies of distillation that are embodied in the creation
of high quality, complex fruit brandies.
