It is very exciting to celebrate our 35th year of Wines & Steins; 2013-2014!  

Dear Wines and Steins Friends,

Join us this Friday, May 2nd @ 6:00 p.m. for our monthly Membership Meeting.

*Speaker for the meeting:

Lloyd C. Schantz, Senior Vice President; John I. Haas, Inc.- The world's largest producer of hops and hop products.

Education - BS Microbiology and Biochemistry, MBA

For more than 35 years, Lloyd has managed several global businesses focusing on flavors, functional food ingredients, botanicals and spices. Most recently he manages 2 business units and the global technical group for Haas'. His efforts focus on the production and marketing of advanced hop products and developing markets for hop products outside of the brewing industry which they refer to as "beyond brewing". Lloyd will present a pictorial walk through the world of hops from the field to your door, a brief overview of hop chemistry (for those of you who would like to see a chemical structure of what you are putting in your mouth), and a "get your hands dirty" evaluation of several hop varieties...if he can obtain beer produced primarily from these hop varieties, we will as well taste some finished product.
**To pay for the storage of our club's wine making and beer making equipment, I would like home wine makers to bring a bottle or two of their wine.  For non-wine makers, if you would like to contribute a bottle, the storage owner prefers zinfandel.  I will deliver them as payment.  -Bill Sisler
Welcome new people to our club! Introduce yourself & invite them to join you.
Guests are a great way to introduce others to our club.
Everyone bring wine &/or beer for our
tasting table. Bring extra if you want a bottle on your table.
Potluck means everyone is expected to bring a
favorite dish to share. If you bring guests, please
bring an extra dish ;) & don't forget your table

  • Appetizers-------Last names starting  w/ letters A-C
  • Side Dish or Entree--Last names starting w/ letters D-P 
  • Desserts---------Last names starting  w/ letters Q-Z


6:00-6:30 Welcome - all check in @ front door table       

6:30-7:15 Business & Presentation-grab one more glass & be seated for the information period of our meeting.

7:15-7:30 BBQ time/ Food prep.& ready on serving tables.  

7:30- Dinner line opens-please allow our speakers to start the line. Then eat & visit @ your leisure, clean your area as you finish. Leave your table & chairs until..... 9:30 start collective clean up!
